Dude it is an amazing choice of titles for this section. Because I can't think of Mississippi and Louisiana without thinking of how it is viewed dependent on the color of your skin. Don't get me wrong I love the South but I know that there is a turbulent undercurrent if you make a mistaken choice. I lived there from 14 to 17 and the experience prior to the military had an indelible affect on me after moving from Michigan. The signs for whites only had been removed but the residents still knew the repercussions of making a simple mistake. And yet the fond memories of family reunions and barbecues remove some of the sting of those days along with a hope for a better future for the South. Maybe one day.

We’re enjoying your journey Scott. Thanks for taking the time to share. BTW, I read a lot & you’re as talented a writer as many of my favorite authors. Maybe a new career?

Growing up close to the Upper Mississippi River, you described the River perfectly. Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn described it well too through the eyes of Mark Twain. I loved to fly along it in my Piper Cub, and float it with friends from college. The silent power of that River is amazing. Keep those recharging power chords out of your spoked tires!

Enjoy the Southern food and a few Hurricanes mixed drinks while in New Orleans🤩

Enjoy your stay in NO. At times the French Quarter almost seems mystical.

I grew up in St. Louis where the Mighty Mississippi is the divider between East and West. We are the Gateway to the West and I’ve always respected that Muddy Mississippi. Thank you for your interpretation and impressive viewpoint.

Oh, I just read Kathy's post. That's funny! There's a "favorite author" person right there!

I Spy WD-40..🤣 I really am looking forward to the daily blogs Scott. I'm not a reading fan... unless it's healthy stuff, factual... yadda. When "readers" describe their "favorite author"...🤷 I can't see in my mind's eye what the writer is telling. I have a tall, thin, brunette pictured and then a description comes of a short, stout, redhead... I'm done.

I really enjoy your style of writing (whatever that is or means). I get it. It's conversational and down to earth. I'm really enjoying this story.❣️ 693 miles does mean the end is near!
