We are lucky to have you sharing your experiences and perspectives. I have had a “there but for the grace of God go I” mentality. Yes, I’ve worked hard and have been blessed and lucky to be where I am today. I also know many people who have either been homeless or one paycheck away from being homeless. What can I do personally? It’s a tough question that I don’t know the answer to. Should I feel guilty? No. Should I feel compassion? Absolutely.
Wow, that was awesome. I have a homeless female Army veteran working at the garden now. she has issues with being bi-polar and lives in a tent with her dog in someone's back yard. She is trying to find a place that will allow her to keep her dog. She is also going to college . How do I help and does she want help? I am taking it slow but I have to wonder if the city is talking to the homeless or just making decisions for them. This is so hard.
I think the city is talking to them, but whether or not the city is truly listening to them is another thing altogether. Reference your vet who is living in a tent, I think the best you can do for her is attempt to listen without judgement or offering a solution. If you can do that, she might reach the point where she’ll feel comfortable telling you what she wants or needs…good luck!

Be kind, and when there’s an opportunity to do good, even if it’s inconvenient…do good. That’s the best any of can hope to do. 😎
